Andrea McComb Sanchez

Andrea McComb received her Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara, specializing in Native American and Indigenous Religious Traditions. Essential to these religious traditions are their connection to the places from which they emerged. Dr. McComb is interested in how indigenous people and cultures are intimately tied to particular places, and their struggles to keep their sacred lands protected. She is also interested in the ways that tribes and environmentalists have been and continue to be allies, as well as their worldviews and agendas can sometimes be in conflict. In addition she is exploring how other prominent religious traditions such as Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, and Hinduism, affect their practitioner's relationship to the environment and how this has influenced public policy towards the natural world.
