Gigi Owen

Assistant Research Scientist, AIRES Climate Assessment for the Southwest

Gigi joined the Climate Assessment for the Southwest (CLIMAS) staff in July 2008. Her ongoing research evaluates how the CLIMAS program contributes to building adaptive and resilient systems in the U.S. Southwest. In 2019, Gigi began a new research project investigating climate-related adaptations in the regional food system, including food production, access, and waste.

 

Gigi recently finished her doctorate in the School of Geography and Development at the University of Arizona. Her dissertation research focused on defining success in adaptation initiatives around the world and on evaluating socially-engaged research theories and practices within the CLIMAS program.
