Katherine Morrissey

Katherine G. Morrissey is an associate professor of history at the University of Arizona, where she is also a faculty affiliate of Arid Lands Resources Sciences and Global Change. She researches, teaches, and publishes in the related areas of cultural, environmental, borderlands/Southwest, and North American western history. Her work has been supported with grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Arizona Humanities Council, and the American Heritage Center among others. She has been a fellow at the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society, Ludwig Maximilian University (Munich, Germany); Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy; the Huntington Library; and the Newberry. Her environmental history research projects and publications have included comparative arid lands science (north Africa and US Southwest); 19th- and 20th-century environmental mining conflicts; mining reclamation history; and borderlands botany.
