Tanya Quist received a Ph.D. in plant physiology and molecular genetics from Purdue University’s Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture with a focus on understanding how plant signal and relay messages in response to drought and salinity stresses. Previous work similarly explored the whole plant, horticultural impacts of water quality on growth and health of woody landscape plants. Presently, as Assistant Professor of Practice in the UA School of Plant Sciences and Director of the UA Campus Arboretum, her interests relate to arid adapted woody ornamental landscape plants with a focus on sustainable horticultural practices for urban forest ecosystems.
